Ok now. I must say... although there are guidelines to govern all the animal handling and all the ethnical methods and what not... I must say that lab rats are seriously SAD. It is really quite cruel.
The way some of the noobs ( these includes some Kiasu China man, some ignorant guy, some who thinks he knows it all guy) handled the rats is really a torture to the rats I must say. They dont follow the proper anaesthetic procedures. They inject the rats and draw blood from the heart of the poor rat when it is not even fully anaesthized. Seriously, I feel like smacking them. FIRRATING. The rats were obviously in pain. ARGH! Hmm... and they happily poke and poke and poke and poke and poke, trying to draw some minute amount of blood when their technique is wrong! AND they were using the wrong needle size.
We learnt the following....
1. Restraining the animal
2. Determining the sex of the animal
3. Blood collection from the tail, the neck and the heart
4. Injection through various pathway.
The sad thing is... after all the experiments... The rats will all be euthanized in a CO2 chamber where they will be put to sleep. To demostrate the terminal blood collection from the heart, the instructor prick the heart of the rat and the next thing we know, the rat is delivered to the chamber. The reason being the moment the rat recovers from the anaesthetic effect, it will in serious pain. So to minimize its suffering, it goes to the chamber.
Alritey. So much for the course. Quite a experience. Not a very pleasant one though.
Tmr will be mice handling. Hopefully it will be slightly better?
After the course, it was lunch at engine. Then off to swimming! yeS! swimming. haHAa! slack and stoned before being pushed to swim 1 pathetic lap. hAHaha. tired la....Just like to slack in the pool. haha! After swimming, it was supposedly climbing session. Tuesday
Work as usual. I managed to get a whooping 16calls that day! Each worth 7bucks! wooHoo! Luck was on my side I must say! After work, I went home and went for a jog. I didnt know how long the route was. I clocked 10km...around 53mins... Tsk... I was dragging myself man.. Mumbling words to keep myself focused. Hmm... Then at night, went for random FROLICK tasting. Hmm.. I must say I personally prefer YAMI (or is it YUMI) yoghurt. hahaah!
Monday
Work as usual then left early to meet some of them at Keppel Island for Shu's birthday. It is a very nice place to take photos. Go facebook to check out some of the photos. Not too pro but enough for viewing pleasure.
Sunday and Saturday
Rockmaster! Spent the whole day there supporting the team. Hmm. Routes were quite ok I supposed? Though some of the endings were slightly hard? Yeah. Super endurance kind of routes. Then in between categories, it was MacDonald's trip. Random nuggets and Fries and to top it off, Ice cold COKE. =) After the competition on Sunday, we went 18chefs and then airport to sort of celebrate shu's birthday on the dot! haha!
Hmm... I TALKED SO MUCH! My blog is like constipation. No words for a couple of days/weeks. But once I have the mood to post, it floods. Muahaha. Words.... Nothing much coming up in the next few weeks. Rockmaster should be the highlight. WORK, CLIMB (vertical), Convention and the ever uncertain Krabi trip. HMm.. Bloody H1N1 is messing up everything!

Ice cream chef is nice too!
OH OH! ONE LAST THING! I wanna buy that north face bag from ken! The red one. BUT.. it has abit of pink in it!
Awaiting for more random and impromptu events to occur. Love it. =) More More!
